Data Analysis, Visualisation and Communication in Science
The consultancy
DAVnSCI is a founder-led scientific consultancy. This page sets out what the practice is, what it is not, and the principles that guide how we work.
What DAVnSCI is
A founder-led scientific consultancy
DAVnSCI — which stands for Data Analysis, Visualisation and Communication in Science — was established to address a practical gap that persists in the scientific community: the distance between the quality of research being conducted and the quality with which that research is analysed, represented, and communicated.
Many researchers and institutions possess scientific expertise but lack the analytical infrastructure, visualisation skills, or communication frameworks needed to present their work at the standard it deserves. DAVnSCI was built to close that distance — not as a generic services vendor, but as a substantive scientific collaborator.
The consultancy operates as a founder-led, boutique practice. This is not incidental to the model — it is central to it. Projects are handled by scientists with direct domain knowledge, not routed through generalist account managers or delegated to templates. Every engagement involves genuine intellectual investment.
DAVnSCI works primarily with researchers in biological and life sciences, PhD scholars at critical stages of their academic work, research institutions seeking analytical or communication support, and biotechnology and agriculture R&D teams requiring scientific rigour in their data workflows.

Scientific Philosophy
How we approach scientific work
Science produces knowledge through a combination of observation, measurement, analysis, and interpretation. Each of these steps introduces the possibility of error — and each step also represents an opportunity for clarity or confusion in how findings are eventually communicated. DAVnSCI operates across this entire chain.
We believe that the analysis of data is inseparable from its interpretation. Numbers require context, biological systems require domain knowledge, and results require careful framing. We do not deliver outputs in isolation — we deliver understanding.
Equally, we hold that scientific visualisation is not decoration. A well-constructed figure communicates what a thousand words cannot. Poorly designed figures obscure findings, introduce ambiguity, and undermine the work they are meant to represent. We take figures seriously because scientific reviewers, editors, and decision-makers take them seriously.
On communication: the scientific literature is dense, selective, and hard to penetrate. We help researchers and institutions present their work in formats that are accurate and appropriate for their specific audience — whether that is a peer-reviewed journal, a funding body, a policy team, or an institutional leadership group.
Operating Principles
How we work
Methodological rigour
Every analysis is designed with statistical integrity and scientific validity as non-negotiable standards. We do not take shortcuts with methods, assumptions, or interpretations.
Reproducibility
Our workflows are built to be fully reproducible and documented. Analyses should be understood, audited, and extended — not treated as black-box outputs.
Clarity in communication
Scientific insight has limited value if it cannot be communicated effectively. We treat the communication of findings as a core technical discipline, not an afterthought.
Selective and high-trust engagement
DAVnSCI works with a focused number of clients at any given time. This is a deliberate choice — it allows genuine depth of engagement on every project.

On selectivity
DAVnSCI is not a platform, a marketplace, or a generic services agency. It is a scientific consultancy that works selectively, engages substantively, and delivers with scientific integrity.
The number of active engagements is kept deliberately small. This is not a constraint on ambition — it is how quality is maintained. If you are considering working with DAVnSCI, the place to begin is a direct conversation about your work.
